Ulysses is the latinised name of Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, hero of Homer's epic poem The Odyssey. The poem is mainly about the journey home of Odysseus following the fall of Troy. Tennyson took this classical story and altered it to suit his aims in Ulysses.
