Answer:

Explanation:

1] The Union List or List-I is a list of 98 numbered items((after 101st Constitutional amendment act 2016,entry 92 and 92c removed)) (the last item is numbered 97) given in Seventh Schedule in the Constitution of India on which Parliament has exclusive power to legislate.

2] The State List or List-II is a list of 59 items(after the 101st Constitutional amendment act, 2016,entry number 52 and 55 deleted.) . Initially there were 66 items in the list in Schedule Seven to the Constitution of India. The legislative section is divided into three lists:Union List, State List and Concurrent List.

3] The Concurrent List or List-III[citation needed] (Seventh Schedule) is a list of 52 items (though the last item is numbered 47) given in the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India. It includes the power to be considered by both the union and state government. The legislative section is divided into three lists: Union List, State List and Concurrent List. Unlike the federal governments of the United States, Switzerland or Australia, residual powers remain with the Union Government, as with the Canadian federal government.

4] Subjects which are not present in any of the lists mentioned in the constitution are known as Residuary Subjects. Union Government has the powers to make laws on Residuary Subjects. Such subjects include: Computer software, e-commerce etc. These subjects came into being after the constitution was created.

Answer:

Union, state and concurrent lists are mentioned in the schedule 7 of the Constitution of India. Basically it's a mechanism of division of power between centre and state. The subjects on which the respective governments (central and state) can make law is defined in these three lists.

Union list : Subjects on which central government has exclusive rights to make the law comes under this list. There are currently 100 items in it.

State list : Subjects on which state government has exclusive rights to make the law comes under this list. There are currently 61 items in it.

Concurrent list : residual subjects which are not listed in any of the above lists comes under this list. Both central as well as state government has authority to make laws on these subjects. There are currently 52 items in it. However if both government decides to make law on the subject listed in this list, then central law prevails over the state law.
