Unity in Diversity

Unity in diversity is a phrase that signifies the unity among people with diverse cultural, religious beliefs, social status and other demographic differences.

There are many factors that promote unity of India. These are :

(i) Geographical condition have provided India singleness while it has physical, climatic and regional differences.

(ii) India has a continuous history of the whole country .

(iii) Politically too, India is 1 unit . In ancient time, the Rajas and Maharajas performed Ashvamedha Yajnas for becoming Chakravati Samrat.

(iv) Our freedom struggle showed the spirit of common brotherhood. All communities of India where united against British Rulers.

(v) There is an underlying cultural Unity which binds Indian people. Our religious books, scared rivers, Temple churches, mosques and Gurudwara are respected and admired greatly by us all.

(vi) Many religious festivals Diwali, Holi, X-mas and Baisakhi are celebrated commonly in different parts of India. All Indian people have same thinking about the married rites and the position of women in the society. We are all bound by a common bonds, the bond of being an Indian .

Thus in spite of many diversities the unity of the people, right from the Himalayas in the north to Rameshwaram in the south and from Assam in the east to the Gujarat in the west, is an established fact.
