F = (G x m x M)/r^2

G is the gravitational constant, 6.67 x 10^-11
m and M are the two different masses (we'll say M is the Earth's mass, and m is some other mass) and r is the distance between two objects.

However, if we take the rule that for the smaller mass, m,
F = ma , or a = F/m.
At the Earth's surface (where r = 6.4 x 10^6m) the acceleration is due to gravity, and a is given the symbol g.

So, rearranging again gives:

F/m = (GxM)/r^2,
and so
g = (GxM)/r^2.

At the Earth's surface r, 9 = 9.81 m.s^-2 (give or take)

So, M = (g.r^2)/G
Where M is the mass of the Earth.
