Maps since time immemorial have had several important uses! While in earlier times they were developed by Kings to help manage their empires and navigate the seas, the modern world has gone one step further, using maps since early school years in order to teach children about geography and history.
Accurate maps have given the rise to a sense of a global community where people understand their space on earth. Maps have also been used in times of war, for exploitation and exploration of resources, for trade and management of towns, cities and countries.
We are now seeing a time where people have been able to develop 3d maps (Google Street), Underwater mapping and even mapping of the moon and Mars!
