Explain variation in atomic size and valency in Modern Periodic table in group and period with example

atomic size decreases as move from left to right across a period and the size increases as we move from top to bottom.... Valency moving from left to right increases upto 4 and then decreases ( -3,-2,-1) whereas while from top to bottom it remains same.... Hope it helps
