Various government policies for institutional as well as technological reforms since independence in India are the following;
(i) Land Reforms: Collectivization, Consolidation of Holdings and Abolition of Zamindari were the land reforms by the government.

(ii) Agricultural Reforms: The Green Revolution of Agriculture and the White Revolution of milk production were great reforms. 

(iii) Developmental Programmes: Provision for crop insurance against drought, flood, cyclone etc were introduced for the betterment of the agricultural sector. Grameen banks and Cooperative societies were created for the purpose of loaning.

(iv) Awareness Programmes: Television and radio became an important source of spreading awareness.
