merits

1. goods like vegetables and fruits which are more likely to get spoilt easily cant be carried through air and water so carrige by land is preferred.

2. it is cheap

3. accessible to small towns and villages where airways cant reach

demerits

1. takes longer time

2. not a safer journey(goods can get damaged easily)

3. need to pay costs of petrol and disel which are obviously expensive
