Various types of defects in crystalline solids:
- Line defects- This kind of defect refers to the lines with which whole rows of atoms are arranged anomalously in a solid.
- Point defects- Point defects happen only at or around a single lattice point.
- Volume defects- This defect refers to the absence of a number of atoms in order to form internal surfaces in the crystal.
- Surface defects- This kind of defect separates material into regions that have the same crystalline structure. It doesnot have the same orientation.
