Speed-time graphs
- The gradient of the line of the speed-time graph is the acceleration of the particle (for straight lines acceleration is constant). Gradient of line=change of velocitytime,=v−ut,=a. The area under the speed-time graph is the distance the particle travels. Shaded area=(u+v2)t,=s.
Introduction to the Displacement and Acceleration Equation
- It reads: Displacement equals the original velocity multiplied by time plus one half the acceleration multiplied by the square of time. Here is a sample problem and its solution showing the use of this equation: An object is moving with a velocity of 5.0 m/s.
