Sound is transmitted through gases, plasma, and liquids aslongitudinal waves, also called compression waves. It requires a medium to propagate. Through solids, however, it can be transmitted as bothlongitudinal waves andtransverse waves.

sound is longitudinal wave.

when the sound wave propagates through air,the particles of air oscillate in the direction of wave propagation ,with the result, the regions of compressions and rarefraction are formed in the air which alternate with one another , thus, sound energy moves forward.so we can say that sound is longitudinal wave.

hope it will help you if yes then plz mark it as brainliest plz plz plz request plz
