Let the time taken to walk to the market be y and time taken to go by auto be x.
Therefore, when traveled by both, the equation will be : x+y = 150......(1)
when he takes auto both ways the equation is:
                                          x+x = 50
                                          2x = 50
                                          x = 25
Putting x = 25 in eq. (1): 
                                       x + y = 150
                                       y = 150-25
                                       y= 125
Hence, when walked both ways, time taken will be 2y= 125*2 = 250 min.
