Scientific theories are testable and make falsifiable predictions. They describe the causes of a particular natural phenomenon and are used to explain and predict aspects of the physical universe or specific areas of inquiry for example, electricity, chemistry, and astronomy.

A scientific theory is an explanation or prediction of something in the Universe which is based on :-

  • Observations
  • Logic
  • Proof
  • Evidence
  • Reasoning

The scientific theory should not be an assumption.

Yes it should have enough logic to call it a theory.

If the theory does not make sense or has evidence against it ,then the theory is believed wrong. For example:Darwin's theory of evolution.

Examples

The theory of relativity

Kinetic theory of gases

Lewis theory

Particle theory.

The theory of Natural Selection

The theory of Acquired Characters
