Chemiosmotic theory is a theory is of ATP synthesis put forward by Peter Mitchell (1961) which states that energy liberated during electron transport performs osmotic work in accumulating H+ ions develops a proton gradient motive force that causes synthesis of ATP from ADP and inorganic phosphate
