The word 'Tripitaka' means Triple Baskets or three parts: Vinaya Pitaka, Sutta Pitaka an Abhidhamma Pitaka. Vinaya Pitaka' is the first of the Tripitaka and it contains all the disciplinary rules of ecclesiastical acts and duties formulated by the Buddha himself for the conduct and guidance of monks and nuns

Answer:

  1. Tipitaka (Tripitaka in Sanskrit) is the name given to the Buddhist sacred scriptures and is made up of two words; ti meaning 'three' and pitaka meaning 'basket'. ... The Pali Tipitaka are the Buddhist scriptures, also known as the Pali Canon.
  2. Known as the Tripitaka, the sacred texts of Buddhism are broken down into three sections known as baskets. Referred to in the West as the Three Baskets, the Tripitaka includes the Vinaya Pitaka, the Sutta Pitaka, and the Abhidhamma Pitaka.
