Ex -----> 2FeCl2 + Cl2 -----> 2FeCl3 .

( c ) Removal of hydrogen .
Ex -----> H2S + Cl2 -----> 2HCl + S .

( d ) Removal of electropositive ion .
Ex -----> 2KI + H2O2 -----> 2KOH + I2 .

( e ) loss of electron .
Ex -----> Zn -----> Zn2+ + 2e- .

Any substance which itself gets reduced in order to oxidize another compound or element is called an oxidizing agent .

Example ----->

( a ) some solid oxidising agents and manganese dioxide red lead and bleaching powder .
