1. Shifting Cultivation is an agricultural system in which a piece of land in a forest is cut down and burned .

2. When the ashes are left they are mixed into the soil, making the soil fertile and rich then the land is used for cultivation .

3. Once the soil loses its fertility the land is left so that it regain its fertility by natural vegetation .Then the people practising this discover a new land and begin the same practise again .

4. It is also known as slash and burn agriculture .

shifting cultivation means, using a land and then lefting it for sometime for gaining fertility and in this duration crop is not grown on that field
