1. Antacid tablet contains weak base such as magnesium hydroxide or aluminium hydroxide or both. acidity is caused by the excess acid produced in the stomach. when as antacid is taken,the base(s) present in it neutralise the excess acid and one gets relief from the acidity.
2. The sting of an ant contains formic acid. when an ant bites,it injects the acidic liquid into the skin.tge effect of the sting can be neutralised by rubbing some moist solution of a basic substance such as baking soda (sodium hydrogen carbonate) or calamine solution,which contains zinc carbonate.
