Answer:
An oxide ion and a sulphide ion have charge (-2) as oxygen and sulphur both have 6 electrons in their valence shell and has tendency to gain 2 electrons in order to gain octet state in their valence shell . Magnesium has atomic number 12 and has 2 electrons in its valence shell and on losing those two electrons it has charge (+2).
