Charged balloon repels charged balloon:

  • Same charges repel each other whereas opposite charges attract each other.
  • When objects are rubbed with each other, there is frictional force acting between two objects.
  • The friction changes the polarity of the objects.
  • When a balloon is rubbed with woollen cloth, the electrons of woollen cloth move to balloon. This charges balloon negatively and woollen cloth positively.
  • When a charged balloon is brought near another charged balloon. The negative charges repel.
  • When a balloon is uncharged it has equal number of positive and negative charges.
  • So, when a charged balloon is placed near uncharged balloon, negative charges of charged balloon attracts positive charges of uncharged balloon.
