Clinostat is an apparatus used to measure plant growth in the absence gravitational pull, light and other stimuli. It uses rotation to nullify the effect of stimulus on plant growth (Phototropism, gravitropism). It consists of a motor that slowly rotates a vertically attached disc to which a seedling or small plant is attached in some manner. The rotation of the disc prevents any one side of the plant receiving a continous stimulus.

Other than this photropism also do not occur when plants are rotated in clinostat.
