☆In the conductors there present a large number of free electrons which moves inside the conductor

randomly.

☆when an potential difference is applied across the conductor an electric field is developed from (+)ve to (-) ve.

☆So free electrons starts to moves in a direction opposite to electric field.

☆These free electrons while moving collides with the (+)ve ions

and their direction is opposed.

☆This opposition offered by positive ions is termed as resistance.

☆Hence due the presence of (+)ions a conductor offers resistance.

Explanation on "conductor offers resistance to the flow of current":

  • The Reason behind conduction ability of the conductor materials isdue to the presence and movement of many free electrons within the conductor which are randomly moving in it.
  • When a certain electric field a potential difference is applied to the conductor the electrons start moving towards the positive sides while the positive ions that are created start moving in opposite side which leads to collision between them.
  • Hence the movement of electrons is registered by these ions and this phenomenon causes resistance of conductor.
