Explanation:

A food chain is a linear sequence of organisms through which nutrients and energy pass as one organism eats another. ... Food webs consist of many interconnected food chains and aremore realistic representation of consumption relationships in ecosystems.

A food web is a more realistic model of energy flow than a food chain, because -

• The food chain describes a single linear sequence of energy flow which requires specific group of species to accomplish the energy flow in the real life.

• But,in the practical situation, these specific sequence doesn't occur in most of the times.

• On the other hand, the food web randomly connects different food chains through infinite number of completely random sequences.

• These random sequences are more practical because the existence of the species is also random which makes the energy flow sequence more complex,as described in the food webs.

• For this reason, the food webs are more practical.
