Explain why a liquid cools when evaporation takes place from its surface?

evaporation takes place at normal temperature and pressure so the heat energy required by liquid to change itself to vapour is obtained by the substance in contact .there by it take the energy and thus producing a cooling effect

a liquid doesn't cool during evaporation, the environment around it becomes cool,because the liquid absorbs energy from surroundings.
