explain why a person travelling in a bus falls forward when the bus stops suddenly by momentum

this is just because of Newton’s First Law of Motion which states as below:

Everybody continues in its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line unless and until it is compelled by an external force to change that state.

So when the bus or train stopped suddenly, a passenger sits inside tends to fall forward. Because the lower part of the body comes to rest with the bus while the upper part tends to continue its motion due to inertia.
