explain why, a solution of salt in water is considered a mixture and not a compound

A Solution of salt in water is considered as mixture and not a compound because when a salt is dissolved in water it does not undergo into chemical change just only disslove into ions.and it not a compound because compound is the solution of pure element but when salt add with water it become a mixture.
