Explain why a spark from a firework will not hurt you as much as a cup of hot tea.

It will not unless it contains as much energy as the cup of tea. So a tiny spark may be at 1,000C but a whole cup of tea at 90C will deliver far more heat (energy) to the skin as the spark.
