Heavy vehicles have broad tyres because broad tyres have large area of contact and less pressure on the ground. Because of this, heavy vehicles (like tractor) can move even on soft roads and fields without sinking.

trucks are very heavy vehicles due to their large mass, the exit huge pressure on the roads which may severly demage the roads and the tyres of truck may get trapped in wet ground.so, to reduce the pressure exerted by the tracks on ground wide tyres are provided.
