Planes are made streamlined bcz streamline shape experiences less friction in air. If friction is more then more fuel consume so it is made streamlined I think my answer may help you

Aeroplanes and Car bodies are made more pointed along their fronts to overcome fluid friction or Drag.
Explanation:
-->Air exerts frictional force on cars, aeroplanes , rockets and birds.
-->Higher the speed of an object moving through fluid greater will be the fluid friction.
--->Larger the size of an object , greater will be the fluid friction.
Disadvantage of fluid friction:
Fluid friction reduces the speed of objects moving through them by opposing their direction of motion.
To overcome fluid friction, energy will be wasted which decreases their efficiency
Hence Aeroplanes and cars are streamlined [given a desired shape ] to minimize fluid friction.
