HERE IS YOUR ANSWER
=====================
1⃣ALKALI METALS ARE VERY STRONG REDUCING AGENT AND THEY CAN NOT BE EXTRACTED FROM ITS OXIDE AND OTHER COMPOUND.
SO THE FIRST REASON IS THEIR REDUCING PROPERTY.
=====================
2⃣BEING HIGHLY POSITIVE IN NATURE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO DISPLACE THEIR SALT SOLUTION WITHOUT BEING FUSED.
SO THE SECOND REASON IS POSITIVE NATURE.
====================
3⃣THEY CAN NOT BE EXTRACTED BY ELECTROLYSIS OF THEIR AQUEOUS SOLUTION. BECAUSE THE METAL FIRMED WILL REACT IMMIDIETLY WITH WATER FORMING THEIR HYDROXIDES. THEREFORE THESE METALS ARE PREPARED BY FUSED SALT .

- Alkali metals are strong reducing agents. Hence, they cannot be prepared by chemical methods.
- Electrolysis of aqueous salt solution cannot be used for the preparation of alkali metals metals, as during electrolysis, are discharged at cathode giving gas instead of alkali metal ion. This is due to the fact that the discharge potential of ions is lower than the metal cations.
- However, on electrolysis of molten fused salt, the metal cation present gets discharged at the cathode ( as ions are absent ).
