explain why anhydrous Fecl3 cannot be prepared by heating hydrated iron ( III ) chloride .

On heating the hydrate, HCl acid is released and basic salt (FeOCl) or ferric oxide remains. Hence, anhydrous ferric chloride cannot be prepared by heating the hydrate.
