Iron(III) chloride or Ferric chloride (FeCl3) is a compound that is generally available as hexa-hydrate salt.

When it is heated, hydrolysis occurs and hydrogen chloride gas is evolved.

Hydrates of Iron(III) chloride cannot be dehydrated to anhydrous form, because it decomposes to iron(III) oxychloride and hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas, upon heating.

Hope it helps.
