cations are formed by losing of electrons.Hence in a cation no.of electrons are less. Now let's come to nuclear force.
What's called nuclear force??
it is the force by with the constituents of the nucleus(neutrons and protons)pull the electrons!!
so let's come back to cations
in cations the electrons are less hence these electrons will be pulled much easily and strongly by the nucleus.as the nucleus pulls the electrons towards it the size of the ion decreases.
Now let's consider anions!!
How are anions formed??
they are formed by gaining of electrons!!
hence in anions electrons are more as compared to protons and neutrons.
as a result more nuclear force is required to pull the electrons!!this results in bigger size of anions!!!
