in the case of metals reactivity increases in going down in a group ....
but in the case of non metals it decrease in going bottom

and in a period reactivity first increases then decreases..........

The provided statement is incorrect because we know that in case of non metals reactivity shows a decrease as we move from top to bottom in a group as it depends on the tendency of non metals to gain electrons, which also decreases.

Tendency refers to the desire to do something.

Chemical reactivity is the tendency of elements to form anions or cations as the case may be.
