this is is because as we move down the group the the balance electron enter to new sub shell so the nuclear Attraction to the outer electron is less and less hence size of aluminium is less than galium

Answer:

  • pnultimate she'll of gallium contains 10d elections. this leads to poor shielding effect.
  • the inner d-orbital don't shield the nucleus effectively due to their shape and poor penetration power. as a result, effective nuclear change in Ga becomes more than inAL.

  • hence atomic size of Ga(135pm) is slightly less than that ofAl (143pm).
