In this process of chemical reaction oxide of metals or reduced using strong agent alkali and alkaline earth metals are themselves strong reducing agent alkalis and hence cannot be extracted by reduction of their oxides and alkaline earth metals alkali metals being highly electropositive cannot be displayed from the aqueous solution of their salt by other metals.
