explain why can we see full moon on a full moon day but not in a new moon day

The moon is been lit on the side that we don't see, the side we see is in shadows and only visible during the day. The moon completes a full orbit around the earth in a little over 27 days. Full moon and new moon are extreme opposites of the orbit, so the full moon and the new moon are just short of two weeks apart.
