Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas because it traps heat from the sun and does not let it escape.
Excess amount of carbon dioxide can result in the flooding of low lying areas. This is because if there is more CO2, then there will be more heat that is trapped which would lead to Global Warming. This would cause the melting of polar ice caps which in turn would lead to Flooding Of Low Lying Areas.
