Carbon Have Four Valence Electrons
They Can't lose it As Large Amount of energy will be requires which is not present in environmental.
If they got the Substance will get destroyed.
They can't gain electrons because 4 extra electrons Will make it unstable as protons will become very less.
Properties
Catenation
Carbon can Combine With each other or with Other Compound to for new compounds.
Tetra valency
They Have valency of 4.
Hope it will yelp you Pal.
Pls mark it as brainliest answer.

A covalent bond is formed when an atom shares a pair of electron with another atom.

Reason: Carbon has 4 electrons in its outer shell and in order to complete its octate, it has to take 4 electrons or donate whereas it shares its 4 electrons with another atom with the same conditions and make 4 covalent bonds.

Two reasons for carbon forming a large number of compounds are:

1) Catenation property:

  • The property of any element to link atoms of the element to form long chain.
  • This property occur only that element which have high bond dissociation energy and polyvalency .carbon have both property exist so, carbon have catenation property. Which reason carbon form a large number of compound.

2) Tetravalence of carbon or covalency of carbon:

  • Carbon in exited state form tetravalency due to this generally carbon form covalent bond by any element . this reason is also helpful to form maximum compound.
