Animal cells do not have chloroplasts. Chloroplasts work to convert light energy of the sun into sugars that can be used by the cells. Such things do not happen in animal cells.

Chloroplasts are found only in plant cells because they contain a green pigment that is known as chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll is the main ingredient that is needed for photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is a process by which green plants make their own food.
Therefore, chlorophyll is used to tap the solar energy for the process and hence it is only found in plant cells for manufacturing their food.
