Hey there....
Clouds are at much lesser height than the Sun, therefore light coming from them has to pass large water molecules and dust particles in the earth's atmosphere.
When light passes through these particles all colours are scattered equally .
Therefore the clouds appear white.
In the case of grey clouds, the density of water molecules is very large, hence they do not allow the sunlight to pass through them so the portion appears greyish black.
