Cricket is famous in countries which was part of British empire. India, Pakistan,Australia, New zealand, Bangladesh, Sri lanka, west indies etc.
Britishers used to play cricket on that eventually locals also start playing cricket.
South american countries are colonies of Spain and French not like cricket much. that is why cricket is not popular in South America.

It is because in South America there is not a trend of cricket because at that places they plays baseball and west indies cricketer if u see them there techniques are also like baseball player as today match player at number 4 put 100 runs on india and most of the shorts are like baseball short and helped to reach 322-8(50).
