explain why distilled water cannot conduct electricity but tap water conduct electricity

distilled water do not contain any amount of salt in it so it does not conduct electricity. On the other hand, tap water contains some amount of salt in it thatswhy its a good conductor of electricity.

Tap water contains dissolved salts in it. These salts dissociates into ions when electricity passed through it which are responsible for the electricity conductivity of tap water. But distilled water doesn't contain any dissolved salts, so it does not conduct eectricity
