Explain why does dry hydrochloric acid not conduct electricity but its aqueous solution conducts electricity

according to Arrhenius acids produce H+ ions only when they are reacted with water   but whereas hcl (g) is not reacted with water...

According to me there are no ions and therefore can't conduct electricity. The HCl, when aqueous, has ions and it is these ions that conduct electricity.
