There is a part in the ear responsible for maintaining pressure. Blood exerts some pressure on our body as a whole. But, atmospheric pressure cancels it out. On high altitudes when the pressure decreases, even the pressure inside our body has to decrease so that they can cancel each other out. As an attempt to reduce pressure, our nose bleeds or sometimes we even experience release of pressure through a pop sound. This is an indication that the gas is balancing out and not the blood.
Hope this may help...Thank you.
