The magnetic field generated by any magnet is always strongest at either pole. The magnetic force is equally as strong at both the north and south pole so it has a maximum possible strength.

Natural magnets were discovered in Greece. Like poles repel each other and unlike poles repel attract each other. Maximum iron fillings will stick to the ends of the bar magnet because at the ends of the magnet poles are located. The strength of the poles is maximum at the ends of the magnet.
