EXPALNATION:
The filament type - or Tungsten - bulb works on the principle that when currenr is passed through the filament, it heats up turning into red, yellow and finally the yellowish white - which is the light we get. Now getting light by the process of excessive heating means that most of power is wasted as heat. In the Tungsten bulb, 95% of the energy goes away as heat! You can feel it by your touch within a couple of minutes after switching on the bulb.
