particles of colloids range from 1 to 100nm. It is very small that it can't be seen with naked eyes.even it is smaller than the hole of the filter paper, thus it can't be separated by filter paper but can be separated by ultra filtration

The size of colloidal particles is less than I nm, while the size of poi present in an ordinary filter paper is larger than I nm. Hence, a colloid solution cannot be separated by filtration.
hope it helps,if so please click on thanks
