Explain why food chain should consist of only 3-4 trophic level

Because according to the 10% law only 10%energy is transferred to the next tropic level of preceeding trophic level and if there would be more than 4 trophic levels the energy that will be transferred to the last trophic level would be negligible and hence the chance of survival will minimise resulting the extinction of the concerned specie.

A food chain's length is restricted to just 3 or 4 steps due to energy loss. Moreover, the energy added to the biomass of each trophic level is significantly lower than the one preceding it.
