frictional forces said to be a contact force because it acts upon two surfaces which are in contact with each other like when a car is moving on a road then it acts between the tyres of the car and the road because the tires and the road surface are in contact with each other

Because frictional force oppose the motion of an object so it is said to be contact force

Ck1234: Frictional forces are called contact forces because - they opposes the motion of a body and to oppose the motion a contact between them must be there.
Ck1234: Secondly- they acts upon two surfaces . So a contact between them must be there.
Ck1234: For Ex- it is the frictional force which allows us to walk or move and while walking there are two surfaces in contact I.e.oue foot and the ground.
Ck1234: Another Ex- when we roll a ball after sometimes it stop because of friction and there are also two surfaces in contact I.e ball and the ground which opposes it's motion .
Ck1234: Hope it helps you !!☺☺
